How we got this, and your own tariff

How we got this. Tariff Rs 7.70 per unit (LT-I(B)(ii) domestic, 201 to 300 units a month, Telangana), 4 units per kWp per day (1,460 a year, a normal south Indian rooftop yield), 85 sq ft of roof per kWp. Benchmark cost Rs 50,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and Rs 45,000 after (MNRE, 13 Feb 2024), with a band of 0.9x to 1.15x. PM Surya Ghar assistance Rs 30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and Rs 18,000 for the third, capped at Rs 78,000 (MNRE guideline, 7 Jun 2024). Tariff from the TGERC retail supply tariff order FY 2025-26, checked 5 Sep 2026. Daytime use assumed at 90%. This is an estimate; the number that matters comes from a roof survey, in writing.

After handover

Operation and maintenance, by the team that built the plant

We hold maintenance contracts on 5 of the plants on our register, from one to three years: cleaning, inspection, inverter and earthing checks, and the paperwork with the utility.

See the plants

Every project

One firm, survey to net meter

The structure, the electrical work and the utility paperwork are three jobs. This firm does all three, so the roof, the tie in and the approvals do not sit with three different contractors.

  • Design & engineering

System sizing, structural checks and yield modelling.

  • Approvals & net-metering

Paperwork and utility liaison handled end to end.

  • Installation & commissioning

Safe, precise installation and grid connection.

  • Maintenance after handover

Cleaning, inspection and the utility paperwork, under contract on the plants we maintain.

Why Leo Solar

A rooftop system is three jobs, and we already do all three.

The mounting frames are fabrication, the roof under them is a structural question and the tie in is electrical work. This firm has done all three since 2014, and has been a registered vendor to the Telangana distribution utility for 11 KV work since 2018.

On the register

13 plants handed over, and the same engineers on the maintenance afterwards.

See the projects
  • The structure

Mounting frames are fabrication and the roof underneath is a structural question. Civil construction is the discipline this firm was founded on in 2014.

  • The electrical work

The firm is a registered vendor to the Telangana distribution utility for 11 KV installation and distribution, and does HT and LT cable laying, termination and testing. A rooftop tie in is the small end of that work, not a new discipline.

  • The utility paperwork

Approvals, coordination and charging with a distribution utility are routine here rather than an unfamiliar obstacle, because the firm's existing distribution work runs through the same offices.

  • The price in writing

Sizing, layout, the mounting arrangement, the electrical scheme and the price, in writing. Nothing is ordered before this is agreed.

  • Government work, to specification

Most of the register is work placed through CPWD, MES, GeM and DGD, in 10 states, built to the department specification and passed by its own inspection.

  • Maintenance after handover

5 of the plants on the register are under a maintenance contract with us, from one to three years, run by the same service engineers.

How it works

From the first call to the net meter, in eight steps.

Two of them are the ones most installers leave off the diagram: the structural check before anything is fixed to the roof, and who files the paperwork with the utility.

  1. 01

    Consultation

A conversation about what you are paying now, what you consume during daylight, and what the roof is. Most of what decides whether rooftop solar is worth it is in the first two.

  2. 02

    Site and roof survey

The roof is inspected for structure, orientation, shading and access, along with the existing electrical supply and where the system would tie in. This is an engineering visit, not a sales visit.

  3. 03

    System design and written proposal

Sizing, layout, the mounting arrangement, the electrical scheme and the price, in writing. Nothing is ordered before this is agreed.

  4. 04

    Approvals and net metering application

The application to the distribution utility, and for residential systems the central subsidy application, are prepared and submitted. This is the step that most often decides how long the whole job takes.

  5. 05

    Structure and mounting

Mounting structures fabricated and installed to the survey, fixed so that the roof's waterproofing survives the installation.

  6. 06

    Electrical installation

Panels, inverter, DC and AC cabling, protection, earthing and lightning protection, and the tie in to your existing distribution.

  7. 07

    Testing and commissioning

The installation is tested, then charged and commissioned with the utility's meter in place. You are shown what the system is doing and how to read it.

  8. 08

    Handover and maintenance

Documentation handed over, with maintenance support afterwards through the same service engineers who cover the rest of the firm's work.

How long it takes

The application to the distribution utility, and for residential systems the central subsidy application, are prepared and submitted. This is the step that most often decides how long the whole job takes.

Benefits of solar

An upgrade that pays for itself.

Solar cuts what you pay today, protects you from what tariffs do tomorrow, and shrinks your footprint for decades.

Environmental impact

A smaller carbon footprint

Every unit you generate replaces electricity from a largely fossil-fuelled grid.

Energy security

Energy independence

Hedge against rising tariffs and keep essentials running through outages with battery-ready systems.

  • Hybrid inverters
  • Battery backup
  • Tariff protection
  • Low maintenance

No moving parts. Periodic cleaning and an annual check keep systems performing.

  • Higher property value

Solar-powered homes and buildings are more attractive to buyers and tenants.

  • Tax benefits for businesses

Eligible businesses may claim depreciation on solar assets. Ask us for details.
